Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about professional organizing and how it can benefit you? Do you want to know what a professional organizer is exactly? Read through our most frequently asked questions for more insight into whether or not a professional organizer is for you.

1. What is a Professional Organizer?

Professional organizers work with their clients to develop custom organizing systems and teach organizational skills.

Organizers use their experience and knowledge, combined with tested principles, to create spaces and organizational systems that promote efficiency and give clients more time to enjoy their lives. They also act as coaches to their clients, offering tips and instructing them in proper methods for organizing things.

In a commercial setting, professional organizers are responsible for the overall efficiency of the office or other work environment. A well-designed plan from a good organizer can save a business a substantial amount of revenue.

Professional organizers plan everything; from more efficient handling of paperwork, to time management for individual employees, and room-by-room work flow designs.

2. What is Virtual Organizing?

What is Virtual Organizing? Virtual Organizing is a process for getting organized through the use of telephone, email, photographs, video conferencing or other technology. Virtual organizing is often more affordable because it requires the client to do the hands on work under the guidance of a professional organizer. VO also offers flexible scheduling, and shorter session usually 1-2 hours.

3. How much do professional organizers charge?

Fees are determined by the size of the project, the scope of work and the expertise of the professional organizer.

4. Does the client have to work with the Professional Organizer?

It depends on the project. We prefer to work alongside with you teaching you new organizing skills and it helps us to meet your specific goals to the best of our ability.

5. Will a professional organizer throw away all of my stuff?

We will work with our clients in sorting and decluttering their space. We will make suggestions but ultimately the final decision on what to keep, toss, sell or donate is made by the client.

6. What can the professional organizer do for the client, that the client can not do for themselves?

The professional organizer is trained in creating organizing systems and solutions for the client’s specific organizing project. They are always considerate of your belongings but are not emotionally attached to them. This allows the organizer to move systematically through a room providing suggestions and solutions.

7. I'm too embarrassed for you to come over, should I clean up first?

There is no reason to pick up before we arrive or feel embarrassed about your space. We do NOT judge and are glad you made the first step in contacting us.

8. What happens during an organizing session?

There is always an initial consultation either in person or by video. A typical organizing session is 4-6 hours. We work side by side to sort by category and edit what you no longer love, use or need. The organizer then creates permanent homes for your belongings.
